2 weeks to go :(

So a month has flown past real quick. Breaking dawn was awesome! and the kiwi dinner was just as good- Lamb mmmmmmm yum!

so basically my weeks consist of - Monday night rotary meetings; Wednesday or Thursday afternoon chilling with my great 4 Newbies for 4 to 5 hours; Friday and Saturday nights either out on the town or out for dinner with a family member; and the other days something random.

Last Wednesday i went swimming with my newbies, its winter here so the water was pretty cold, but not as cold as i would have expected. see a video here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdpQbVEUbZ4&feature=g-upl&context=G2efcd8dAUAAAAAAAAAA

other than that i have been catching up with some of my class mates, had a JuleFrokust with my class which is just basically a Christmas lunch or dinner where you drink, eat and have fun, and had Katies leaving dinner on Friday night which was a lot of fun but sad to say bye the next day. Which the Sunday was the last time i will see Beth for about 8 or so months so it was very sad.

today is my little host brothers birthday which we woke up at 7am to sing him happy birthday with presents, and tonight i will do my presentation on my year in Denmark and after that, the family and i will go out for dinner. so that will be lovely.

i have a school party tomorow night, my last day at school Wednesday which we do basically nothing, and the Saturday we celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve, then sunday i have an English Christmas with my English friend and her family and then Monday the family comes over for some fun and games. ohh and then im home in 2 weeks.

so a fun packed couple weeks, but all in all its going to be so sad to go, but good to see all my New Zealanders again.

My Exchange student get-together weekend.

Where has the time gone…

Hey,

so a little time has passed since my last post and I’ve been a bit busy; buying gifts, sorting out stuff to send home, seeing exchange students, school, school work, and a bit of Partying here and there.

The Dentist, i had what needed to be done BUT wow what a price! Never knew just getting 2 fillings could cost so much!

So anyway we had an exchange student get-together on the 4th of November until the 6th of November. we met all the ‘newbie’s’ - newbie’s being the new exchange students that have just arrived, (as some come in the winter and some come in the summer) and when we ‘oldies’ leave, the newbie’s become oldies. Anyway, it was such a brilliant weekend. The Saturday night was spent with dressing up for Halloween, laughter, entertainment and dancing. The Sunday was spent with goodbyes and tears, as this was the last time we all saw each other together. It was quite sad, especially to my New Zealand friend Lindsey, who couldn’t hold her tears back.

That Sunday night i went back to my Auzzie friend Beth’s house for a couple of nights, was so nice spending extra time with her. Then Tuesday we went into Copenhagen for the afternoon, and then i took the train home.
Wednesday was a day off for all school students my age to work and get money for charity. I met with some exchange students who were singing on the streets to collect money.

Friday night was a Danish friend 18th, was exciting to see how they do them here, and the answer is - pretty much the same as New Zealand, except New Zealand 18th’s are wilder ahaha. But it was a nice night.

So i have 4 Rotary Newbie’s and i meet with them once a week for lunch after school, Alex from U.S.A, Arthur from Brazil, Mercedes from Argentina, and Tabatha from Canada and that’s what i did yesterday (Wednesday 16th November), we usually spend 3-4 hours each time we meet in the place we eat at, I think soon we will be banned. I also Skyped with my mum yesterday in the morning for her birthday. My Nan, (Mormor) was also there and she couldn’t hold in her tears, so sweet, i miss them all.

Anyway, things are getting busier now, going to see Breaking dawn (the movie) tomorrow night with Krisztina (my Hungarian newbie with YFU) and Rezija (my Lithuanian newbie YFU) and then going to Krisztina’s exchange party on Saturday night, then going to a half Dane, half kiwi’s house on Sunday night for dinner. i won’t even get started on the next week.

Peace out
:)

Mince and cheese pie, made by the one and only ME and my danish friend Emily! and wow, it was great!
Was about to move families and the dog wanted to leave with me hahaha, she just kept jumping in the car :)

And then there becomes Efterårs feri ♥

Okay so i had my wine tasting with my rotary club, it went very well, arrived and saw small plates laid at each sitting spot. It looked like cheesecake so i got quite excited as i havn’t eatin cheesecake in well i think the whole time i’ve been away maybe?? Anyway, we sat down, and no cheesecake, just a big slice of cheese :( but we had like 4 courses or something ha, was so good!

So the Holiday started with a good Friday night in the city. Saturday i made my way to a exchange student’s house, Katie, we started the day buying a huge orange pumpkin and decided we would make a pumpkin face out of it. we then made our way to Mc Donald’s where we met up with 2 Australians- Kirby and Donald. we arrived back at Katie’s house, 3 Australians, 1 New Zealander - me, and a Brazilian called Bell.
started the evening with making dinner, which Katie and Kirby did the most, whilst Bell and i made garlic bread… and Donald… well, sleeping haha. An Austrian Boy named Oliver came and joined us for the evening, which we spent just going out in Katie’s town.
Sunday 16th of October waking up to Donald’s alarm set for the Rugby match! Australia Vs New Zealand, which of-coarse New Zealand won!!!! was a great win!! Anywho…. we didn’t manage to carve the pumpkin which wasn’t so great but i wasn’t too upset about it as we had just won the match so algoooood!

Made my way home that evening after another session at Mc Donald’s, to go to a birthday dinner of one of the cousins in the family. It was nice, had Chili con carne for dinner and then after played danish trivial pursuit or something, and of-coarse i could be no help as it was danish.

Monday 17th, met Katie in the city which we then made our way to LEGOLAND!! which i met up with Max (a New Zealander in Sweden on exchange), his mum, Jakob (a Dane who was an exchange student living with max and went to my school), and Jakobs family. it was SUCH a great day, had so much fun. arrived home about 21.00 with Katie and just hung out for a cupple of hours.

Tuesday 18th, was dentist day, well not a whole day but yea, i had to get 2 fillings as i had 2 massive cavities. wasn’t so happy about that but hopefully soon it will get better.

Wednesday 19th went to my host mums sisters place for dinner and to watch some films from when the kids were young, it was so HILARIOUS! babies walking into walls and pushing eachother etc ahaha.

and then Thursday, Today, Nothing! at all. maybe a bit of guitar but thats really all. so yes.

everything is going great!

i left NEW ZEALAND 9 MONTHS YESTERDAY!!

i can not beleive how fast the time has gone by!

not long until i’m home.

Danish fodbold

WOow! Danes sure do get into their football (soccer) don’t they! a oy here and a oy there, everybody oy oy .
Sådan man!

Where did the time go…

Okay so im sitting here in class, Religion… and im relising, shhiit almost 9 months gone here in Denmark, and 2 months untill Christmas, a year NEVER goes this fast, EVER!!! so why this year when im having the time of my life!! Because ‘time flys when your having fun!’ its bulshit because its true.

Anyway! its been a while since my last post, sorry..

so in the last 2 months i have moved familes (6.August), then i have just moved again back to my first family (Friday 7.October). I have been to my first class party (which in New Zealand it isnt even normal to have a ‘class party’ but that is because here in Denmark, almost all your classes are the same people and stay the same for 3 years, just to let you know.) so yes. Also in my class we have another exchange student, Krisztina from Hungry, such a sweet girl.

I have made a beautiful mince and cheese pie with a class mate Emily, as i was very much missing NZ pies. it was SO good!! had some of it for lunch today actually.

and now i have started playing the guitar thanks to my Awesome host brother Johan who is teaching me some skills, well trying to teach me ha ha…

also last week did my presintation in Rotary about New Zealand, it went quite well concidering i was slowley loosing my voice haha.

And have had a exchnage student get together with my district to meet the newbies which i am now an oldie and i have 4 of my own Newbies - We went and saw the ‘Sky mountain’ Denmarks highest mountain, was actually Pretty awesome!! after the long hike, canoe ride and walk up the ‘big mountain’ and then a bus back.

Anyway, i have a rotary meeting tonight-wine tasting, it should be pretty interesting. And 1 week left of school and then a week holiday which i will be going to LegoLand and a deer park, with Krisztina. Also continuing practising the guitar - my new found addiction.

thank you.

Peace! <3

2 months of Glory ♥

Hey!

So it’s been about 2 months today since my 18th birthday! i had the best birthday ever waking up next to 2 of my closest friends at 7am to my host family coming to wake me up holding flags and presents which i was so surprised, as i wasn’t expecting anything as we were going to Spain and France that evening. After that we had breakfast and i went to the city with Beth and Lucy to take them to the train-station. I went back home and started packing for 2 weeks into a small carry bag!! Later that day a close Danish friend of mine from my last town (Beder) came over to hang out, and then her family came over for dinner, Spare ribs! It was a really nice dinner topped off with cake for desert. My host sister Astrid made a VERY cute and Hilarious power-point for me which i was basically in tears from laughing so much.

So at 22.30 we left the house, driving to Germany to take a plane to Spain. We arrived in Barcelona, Spain Wednesday at 11am. We walked to the apartment then went out for lunch after changing clothes. Around 14.00 we went back and had a little nap and then walked to the beach. The beach was BEAUTIFUL!! I was amazed! The water not so nice but still nothing to complain about. So we went back had dinner and chilled out for the night.

Thursday and Friday we took a sight-seeing bus around the city, saw some very amazing places and buildings. As well as seeing Gaudi’s house and church. The church was amazing! so beautiful, my host dad, host mum and i walked up to the top of the church, although it was a little claustrophobic, it still was fun, as well as watching my host mum as she was afraid of heights haha.
Saturday was departure day; we left around 2pm driving to Southern France, stopping at a really nice beach along the way. We arrived at our house thing around 9.30 pm. we ended up staying in a house that was from the 1800’s or something like that. It can sleep 14 people comfortably. 2 kitchens, 1 is for main cooking and the other is for making drinks or breakfast. The dining table was so big! Obviously it could sit 14 people comfortably, but still, so big!! Anyway, we had a pool basically to ourselves, it was only like a 30second walk from the house and was located over the mountain edge, such beautiful views! I wish i could have spent every day in it!! And now i wish i could go back as it was so nice, sunny and hot there. A few days we spent by the pool, other days we went on hikes, like one day we took a hike up a mountain, 2 and a half hours walking up, and 2 hours walking down. I was exhausted! But it was so worth it!! We arrived up the mountain to this amazing lake! So cold but that didn’t stop most of us! I was the second out of 8 to get into the water and wow! It was fresh!! Beautiful!

Anyway, one day we took a sightseeing train to a famous place in that end of France, another day we went to another country called Andorra. And then other days we just went to the local town about 30mins away. Our second to last day we took the day to the beach, the Mediterranean Sea, WOW it was stunning!! I was amazed! Would love to live there! It was such a good day, the water so clear! Just amazing.

Departure day, leaving at 5.15am, it was hard, so early but we did it, almost missing our plane but we made it, including having to run through the airport but all was okay in the end. We arrived in Germany and headed to Denmark, making a short stop at the border where everyone goes to buy cheap alcohol and candy etc. it was like heaven!! I also found Cadbury chocolate! Hadn’t seen it for 6months so it was AWESOME!

Once arrived home, we had to unpack. the next day we had to pack again and i had to move rooms, as we were going down to Copenhagen to pick up the two brothers who had just gotten back from their exchange, Johan went to Australia, and Emil went to New Mexico. They arrived on different days which were good for me because i finally got to see Copenhagen.
We arrived home Sunday night, and Monday i went up north to visit Lucy with Beth and Lindsey, Lucy and Beth-Auzzies, me and Lindsey Kiwi’s. It was a great 4 days, so much laughing! Was good to have a few days with some friends.

The time flew by so quickly after getting back, just spent some time with the family including going to the summer house in Ebeltoft. Stayed there a couple of days then came home. Spent a few days seeing some friends then started packing as i was moving families. this was a little harder for me as i can get so close to people, and i had so much stuff i had to pack like 2 days earlier to make sure i had everything, it was a hard job but went okay.

Saturday the 6th came around and wow so sad, although i was definitely going to be visiting the last family it was still sad and strange to be leaving them as they had became my family. But it was okay, i moved to my next family and it went well, my new host sister Laura is almost 16 and we are more alike, going out and everything. This family has also become my family; so now i have two awesome host families!! i love them both so much, and i can basically be myself with them which is so good, but i feel so sorry for them, eating all their food and such :/ but now they both know me so well that half the time they don’t even need to ask if I’m hungry because they know the answer would be yes haha. Not such a good thing to be remembered as ‘the girl who ate a lot’ but I’m okay with it i guess haha i can’t help it so oh well.

Anyway, i spent the week just getting to know everything, and getting used to my surroundings. I also joined a gym which is going so great! I mainly take classes which is all part of the cost. From the 11th to the 12th of august i went down to Copenhagen for the first day and saw some auzzie exchange friends and then went back to Beth’s house in ‘Lolland’ haha, untill Sunday. It was so nice to see her again! Unfortunately she got food poisoning at a party we went to Friday night, i felt so bad and so hopeless for her, but we still had a great time!

Wednesday the 17th August i started school, so now my days consist of school, gym, eat and sleep haha. It’s such a great life… hahahahah.

Anyway, thanks for reading if you managed to read the whole thing, it’s hard to put 2 months into one small post ha.

Bye for now

Xx Gabbie  ♥

So… the latest news…

Be Prepared, its a novel!

Well I have just recently gotten home from my Europe trip which was 18 days.

It was absolutely amazing!! I had the best time of my life! And I think the people I was with helped make it so enjoyable. we first went to Berlin, then Prague, then Vienna, Lido Di Jesolo which we visited Venice for a day and then saw Verona on the way to San Remo, then we went to Avignon- Southern France, Paris, Bruxelles- Belgium, and then we visited Amsterdam for the afternoon on the way to Arnhem – Holland.

Along the way we got to see many beautiful buildings and sights- including the Berlin wall, The Concentration camp on the way to Prague, The old Castle, Gondolas, Marcus Square, the Bridge of Sighs, Juliet’s Balcony, the Arena in Verona, Monaco, Eiffel tower, Arch De Triumph, Notre-Dame- and the places we stayed in were pretty nice considering we were a whole lot of students.

We really did make the most of the Europe trip, our first night, Berlin, there were 6 of us in our room, and we made a fort out of sheets, it was fun to be a kid again! And still having the kid in me, the next day me and Lucy made a ‘build a bear’ she made a bunny and I made a Bear named Jingo. They’re so cute! The next day was Prague in The Czech Republic, which was a nice 2 nights just chilling with the girls, having a look at shops etc… In Vienna, Austria, the place we stayed had no transport into town and back so for the first and second night me, Kirby and Lucy stayed in to get rid of our tiredness as we had been having late nights out. The next day we are in Lido De Jesolo, the first thing we did when we arrived was we went down to the beach! It was so beautiful! I’ve never seen beach look so beautiful! The next day we all went into Venice, it was so hot! It was about 42 degrees Celsius. We went on the Gondolas and had a look at a few shops. It was such a beautiful place, walking over all the bridges; it was kind of like a maze. We got a little lost then found our way back with my great sense of direction ….. ha ha.  That night we had what they call a Discoteq or something, it’s like what we call clubbing I guess. Dancing and stuff. After it we all went to the beach for a midnight swim. The next day we all spent down at the beach, was so nice!! Then we went to Avignon, Southern France. We spent 2 nights there, not much to do. Then we headed to PARIS! It was awesome! We got to go up the Eiffel tower, and see the Arch De Triumph, the Notre dame and a little bit of the Louvre. AND, Kirby, Lucy and I went to the Moulin Rouge! It was awesome! A little different to what I expected but was still awesome just being there. We went shopping the next day. Then we were off to Bruxelles, Belgium. It was kind of boring as we only had one night there. We got to see the little boy peeing statue… wasn’t that great it was probably just under a meter high, definitely different to what we thought. But it was still good. The next day we were on our way to Arnhem, Holland, but made a 5hour stop in Amsterdam. Was a very entertaining stop, we went on a boat cruise through the canals, and then went for lunch. After we had a look at the sex museum, was a great old laugh!! Was not expecting any of what I saw! We then headed to the red light district. I had no idea of what to expect so that was awesome to see, although it was funny to watch the girls try get guys. The next day we headed back to Denmark.

Monday night (06.06.2011) I went to my rotary meeting which was at a Dairy farm that makes cheese, and they even make a brand that is in New Zealand. I got to try some of the cheese, and I tried Blue cheese- a cheese I would never had tried before, it wasn’t too bad, but I wouldn’t want to eat it again. Today I went to my host sister’s school and spoke about myself and New Zealand, I made 2 Pavlova’s and took them for her class, we had a game of something similar to Baseball- but Danish style, it was fun. Tomorrow I am going to a wedding of one of the rotary members. It will be exciting to see how they do weddings here in Denmark. And on my birthday (21 June) my host family and I are going to Spain for 4 days then France for 10, so that is also something I am really looking forward to.

I will be going to my second host family around the 5th of August so that will be entertaining to see how I will transfer all my stuff.

Thanks for reading this almost novel :P

Much love,

Gabbie
